Job creation is a key positive livelihood impact that can arise from projects funded, which can be tracked using this indicator. Job creation within the local community is a key method for improving incomes, broadening engagement with your project and adding value for the local community. As with increases in income, decent work provides a community with greater resilience, and can remove pressures on local ecosystems from the expansion of smallholdings.<\/p>\n
The indicator links to SDG 8 and addresses the employment associated with the projects, whether through direct employment, or as tied to independent producers. The proportion of job creation varies considerably by region but with a standardised base income there is opportunity for job creation measurement, especially those participating in the supply chain of the funded project, e.g. jobs involved in the production of goods. This indicator should be calculated as the sum of the number of jobs created that are attributable to the project. <\/span>Data should be collected with reference to gender (disaggregated by sex) and other protected characteristics where relevant (eg. population group, age), such as members of indigenous groups, to ensure that job creation and hiring decisions do not exacerbate existing inequalities with groups of people that are considered vulnerable. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Jobs created should pay a wage at or above the fair living wage, in line with LG 01 (Number of Households Reporting Increased Income)<\/em>.\u00a0 Data on jobs should be disaggregated by salary level.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Where jobs are not all full time, the equivalent number of FTE roles should be calculated, and displayed alongside the number of individual part time roles created. For example, are the job created providing fulfilling roles, with the potential to progress and learn? Do the jobs come along with trainings and skill development? Do the jobs come with on-sight facilities to access essential services (clean cooking, education, WASH services).
