This indicator gathers headline data on the number of people who have benefited from a range of activities which improve their climate resilience. This is relevant to consider as land-use projects (sustainable agriculture, forestry, restoration) will often take place in countries and regions which are particularly vulnerable from climate change-induced disasters due to lack of resilient infrastructure.<\/p>\n
We have included this broad indicator in recognition that climate adaptation actions are highly context-specific, and therefore hard to aggregate at a portfolio level. We would advise therefore also using more specific sub-indicators (such as CMA 05 – Volume of water storage capacity<\/em> and CMA 06 – Number of different crop varieties and animal breeds managed<\/em>) to gather data on numbers benefitting from specific adaptation actions, as well as gathering case studies and other qualitative data to support this broad indicator.<\/p>\n Project managers should be cognisant of both current and future climate risks and take steps to avoid maladaptation at different spatial and\/or temporal scales where possible.
